For those in the community who are also designers, Dassault Systemes has a new contest entitled “MOVEin3D – A 3D Print Oriented Design Contest.”  You can win an iPad mini!!  All you have to do is  submit an original 3D creation that includes at least several mechanically independent, but not separable, parts.   Real, original, funny, or mind-struggling creations are preferred.  Your object must be 3D-printable and meet the requirements of today’s 3D printers.

3DVIA Composer – In Action at a Local Service Garage

On a recent trip to my local Volvo dealership to shoot a short 3DVIA Composer “in action” video clip, I explained my purpose for the visit to the technicians, and went to set up my equipment nearby. I then overheard them talking about their frustrations with their existing service instructions. How difficult it was to understand how to assemble a vehicle part for the first time – especially for a new model. It was also interesting to hear, how their productivity often suffers because the service instructions contain irrelevant information or hyperlinks to useless details. Most notably, many also expressed how they wanted to be able to access information from anywhere on the shop floor or, even better, from inside or even underneath a vehicle.

3DVIA Composer – V6R2013x Certification Exam

Recently, 3DVIA Composer team has released a new 3DVIA Composer - V6R2013x Certification Examcertification exam that has been updated to V6R2013x.  This certification focuses on 3DVIA Composer and offers customers, partners, DS employees, and students the opportunity to achieve accreditation in this area.  To be properly prepared it is recommended that test takers have at least 3-months of work experience using 3DVIA Composer.  Prior to taking the certification exam it is also recommended that test takers complete 20 hours of Companion training that is offered through the following link; 3DVIA Composer Essentials Companion.   This exam consists of approximately 50-70 questions that range in difficulty and all are multiple choice questions.  The certification exam is delivered in a secure proctored testing environment at any P...
