3DVIA your iPod #59: “Knocking out the competition”

muhammad-ali-knock-out.jpg

You’ve heard us rant about the exceptional qualities of 3DVIA Composer, and how we make better reuse of CAD data than other competitive products such as Isodraw. I’ve shown 3DVIA Composer to people hundreds of times, and I never grow tired of the look of amazement on peoples’ faces when they see what we can do. But what really amazes me is how quickly our customers can go from purchasing our product to being productive and generating positive returns: it’s a tribute to our architecture and ease of use.

It’s why we win benchmark after benchmark, why customers continually choose 3DVIA Composer over other products, and why customers actually turn off those products in favor of 3DVIA Composer.

But don’t take it from me… take it directly from one of our newest customers, Miller Formless. When I heard that they recently purchased 3DVIA Composer to replace Isodraw, I wanted to learn more. This mid-week Podcast is the unedited conversation I had with their VP of Manufacturing and Engineering, Jim Szamlewski. This call was not rehearsed; I had no idea what Jim would say about 3DVIA Composer. My initial plan was to pull some sound bites and quotes from the call, but there are so many good points made by Jim – and in the interests of bringing you truly authentic content – here is the full 9 minutes of audio. [Editor's note in the interests of full disclosure: there are 3 edits to clean up audio not related to this particular conversation]

What may surprise you most about this conversation is the enthusiam of the customer only 2 weeks after installing the software, and how the users actually enjoy using it. Imagine your employees using a product that makes them exceptionally efficient, and one that they actually like to use: what would that do for your productivity?

Not only are we faster, easier to use, and more flexible, but our users are passionate about our product. Talk about the ultimate knock out punch to the competition.

Greetings from SolidWorks World 2008!

Here in San Diego, we are in the middle of another astonishingly successful SolidWorks World for 3DVIA Composer. Hundreds–dare I say thousands–of interested prospects, customers, bloggers, press agents, resellers, and employees have swarmed our kiosk and have been totally amazed by our capabilities. There has been non-stop traffic to our booth; so much so that we had to bring in a 3rd flat screen LCD panel, creating a theater experience to accommodate the demand!

Thank you to our friends and future resellers from the mid-west for their permission to post our candid photo capturing their deep interest in our product. A photo is truly worth a thousand words — ’nuff said.

3DVIA Composer to be featured at SolidWorks World

Attend SolidWorks World to learn more about 3DVIA Composer

If it’s January, the entire SolidWorks community — both here in Concord and around the world — is gearing up for SolidWorks World in mid-January.

We’re very excited to participate in SWW again this year, this time as part of the SolidWorks family. So, be sure to look for 3DVIA Composer in the SolidWorks booth at the exhibit.

I also want to make sure you know about the in-depth session we are going to be delivering this year. It’s on Monday, January 21 at 4:30pm. The session title is Revolutionizing Design Communication: Creating Product Information with 3DVIA Composer.

In the session, we will have user of 3DVIA Composer will explain his implementation and how it has revolutionized their use of SolidWorks as a source for product publishing. I’ve been discussing the content we are going to show with Garth and Rakesh (two important 3DVIA Composer folks you should meet at the show) and I assure you, it will be among the most valuable sessions you can attend at SWW this year.

So, be sure to mark your calendars for the afternoon of January 21 at 4:30pm to see 3DVIA Composer through the eyes of one of its users.

(Some older pages on the the SW website and the printed agenda use the old product name, Seemage, for this session. As you can imagine quite a lot of materials went to press before we were acquired last fall. Rest assured, however, that all printed materials refer to the same session, which is the 3DVIA Composer at SolidWorks World).
